I actually finished this bracelet months ago so I don't remember the ring sizes I used, but I remember having to tweak the sizes a lot in order to get the stones to sit securely. The weave I used was Celtic Filagree.
The bulk of the bracelet is in raw titanium, with anodized titanium and sterling silver highlights. The stones are held in place with a small drop of epoxy on the back. They did stay put without epoxy as long as the bracelet was being worn, but a couple kept falling out whenever the corner rings flipped up on their own.
I'm really happy with this piece, as it's a real departure from the copper alloys that I usually use. It took me out of my comfort zone, so to speak, and caused me to look at jewelry design from a new perspective. I wanted to try a more random look this time, and had to fight my natural urge to create some kind of symmetry in the coloring.
As an added bonus I finally managed to capture the beauty of anodized titanium on camera!! I don't know what I did different but for once I got the color without making the metal look dull and lifeless.
This weave reminds me of lace! I loved the raw ti you used. I really hated working with ti though, it really is a big PITA! You have to get into the rhythm of it all for it too work. Your an amazing artist! You do the chainmaille community justice! This absolutely a gorgeous thinking outside the box piece!
lol not much and not so much here either! Rotten economy and and a good job in the hot sauce biz has diverted my attention elsewhere for the moment, but I still lurk every now and then. How about you?
by the way fav-ing this ^_^
Pretty much every weave created is posted in mailleartisans.org
amazing work!
